QUANTEL PAY AS YOU GO HD

(From www.TelevisionBroadcast.com)

Paying to unlock hidden features is nothing new in the industry. We do it with software and with hardware, such as cameras. But usually it's a one-time upgrade that you'll pay for when you're ready to commit to really needing the upgrade features for the life of the product.

QUANTEL had a better idea -- one that might change the industry.

By electing the PAY AS YOU GO HD option for the QUANTEL eQ, you'll save 40% off the price of a full-time HD version. The eQ will be a fully equipped system, but ingest and playout is limited to SD until a password is loaded in the system. When you need to have your eQ in HD mode, you can purchase a weekly or mothly license password from QUANTEL -- so you're only paying for HD when you need HD.

When the license expires, you'll still have your HD material archived on the system, but it will only play out in SD.

QUANTEL's PAY AS YOU GO HD eQ comes with two one-week licenses so a facility can construct a demo one week and use it for a client the second week.

Here are the numbers. An entry level eQ would normally cost $180,000. In PAY AS YOU GO HD, it's 40% of at $108,000. Weekly licenses are $2,250 and monthly licenses are $7,200. When you're ready for a full-time HD license, QUANTEL will credit you back 50% of what you spent on PAY AS YOU GO HD license fees towards the full-time upgrade cost.
