I Don't -- Why People In Connecticut Have Cold Feet

(From Slate.com -- By Brendan I. Koerner)

According to THE NATIONAL MARRIAGE PROJECT at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY, the state of CONNECTICUT had the nation's lowest marriage rate in 2004, at just 24.2 betrothals per 1,000 single women over the age of 15.

The runners-up were also blue states.

After Connecticut, the top marriage-phobic states are California (26.4 weddings per 1,000 single women), Pennsylvania (27.4), New Jersey (30.4), Massachusetts (30.4) and New York (30.6).

So why is Connecticut the #1 state for people with cold feet?

Drunken Badger Disrupts Traffic In Germany

(From Reuters)

A badger in Germany got so drunk on over-ripe cherries it staggered into the middle of a road and refused to budge, police said Wednesday.

A motorist called police near the central town of GOSLAR to report a dead badger on a road -- only for officers to turn up and discover the animal alive and well, but drunk.

Police discovered the nocturnal beast had eaten cherries from a nearby tree which had turned to alcohol and given the badger diarrhea.

Having failed to scare the animal away, officers eventually chased it from the road with a broom.

Scott O'Leary, thanks for the post.

Quote Of The Week -- ANNA QUINDLEN

If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all.

Quote Of The Week -- EDIT SYSTEMS

It doesn't matter what you are cutting on, but what you are cutting.

Quote Of The Week -- PILLAR BARS

The sad truth is most home HDTVs are set to stretch 4x3 video to fill the screen by stretching.

When I tell people to set their TV to pillar box they scream, "But it won't fill my new big screen."

Reminds me when color TV first came out and people would crank up the saturation because they wanted to get their money's worth of color.

Color Grading Video On Your IPHONE

(From The Avid Yahoo User's List)

For anyone who has an urge to do color correcting on their iPhone THE MILL colorists have come up with this bit of fun.

Search for MILL COLOUR (spelt right/wrong) on THE APP STORE.

It's FREE.

I think it's a riot.

It's obviously not a serious tool for real work, but brings exposure (pardon the pun) to the importance of grading.

If you check out the app it includes "looks" and a contest that allows you to try your hand at grading with their app and uploading the results to their FLICKER account.

The winner gets free training from the colorists at THE MILL and a "goodie bag."
