Porn star, political candidate -- now you can add REPUBLICAN booster to MARIAH CAREY's resume. Carey was in Washington Tuesday to attend the PRESIDENT'S DINNER, a fund-raising gala.

Carey, who plans to run for lieutenant governor of California, said her trip to Washington has swayed her political leanings. She says she's been a Republican "for a couple of days."

Currently, Mariah's WE BELONG TOGETHER is atop the music charts. It recently became the first song to register 200 million audience impressions (calculated by number of radio plays and listeners nationally) in a week since the chart was introduced in 2002.
