With support from the FORD FOUNDATION, ANNIE E. CASEY FOUNDATION, DAVID AND LUCILLE PACKARD FOUNDATION, and THE CORPORTAION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (CPB), PUBLIC POLICY PRODUCTIONS presents two new documentaries produced and directed by ROGER WEISBERG, EDDIE ROSENSTEIN, FRANCES REID, TOD LENDING, and PAM HARRIS.
The term "working poor" should be an oxymoron. If you work full time, you should not be poor, but more than 30 million Americans -- one in four workers -- are stuck in jobs that pay less than the federal poverty level for a family of four.
WAGING A LIVING chronicles the day-to-day battles of four low-wage earners fighting to make work pay. Shot over a three-year period in the northeast and California, this observational documentary captures the dreams, frustrations and accomplishments of a diverse group of people who struggle to live from paycheck to paycheck.
WAGING A LIVING will be followed by Roger Weisberg's 25-minute short film, ROSEVELT'S AMERICA. This award-winning cinema verité documentary profiles the journey of a LIBERIAN REFUGEE named ROSEVELT HENDERSON as he struggles to build a new life in America.

[Try and get out, check out and support these documentaries, especially if you're in or around NYC. Some of my ITHACA COLLEGE friends worked on these productions. DEBORAH CLANCY PORFIDO was the Associate Producer on both documentaries. Cinematography for WAGING A LIVING was done by SLAWOMIR GRUNBERG and JASON LONGO was one of many who captured sound. All of them work for PUBLIC POLICY PRODUCTIONS. Congratulations guys! Hope to see you at one of the screenings. Also look for these documentaries on your local PBS STATION over the coming months.]
