JERICHO Re-Cancelled A Second Time

(From Cynopsis)

CBS told producers on the drama JERICHO last Thursday that the show's final episode will air this Tuesday night.

Even with fan support that resurrected the series after CBS' first cancellation last year, JERICHO's second season ratings were less than the first, averaging a 1.9 A18-49 rating on Tuesdays at 10 pm.

CBS' re-cancellation of JERICHO is being held up as more proof that Internet popularity does not necessarily translate into on-air success.

The show made headlines last year when the network heeded to non-stop pressure waged by hardcore fans on chat groups and fans sites, culminating with thousands of bags of peanuts being mailed to network executives.

CBS shot two endings for the series and has decided to air the one that will offer fans more resolution of the current season storyline, rather than a cliffhanger.

A portion of the statement released by CBS said, "We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We're proud of everyone's efforts."
