Award Shows Tough Going During Writer's Strike

(From Cynopsis)

Unable to come to any sort of interim agreement with DICK CLARK PRODUCTIONS and/or NBC, and threatened with a significant lack of star power, the GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS telecast scheduled for Sunday night will be replaced with a one hour news conference held in Beverly Hills by THE HOLLYWOOD FOREIGN PRESS announcing the winners in the 25 film and television award categories.

The news conference will be covered by NBC NEWS.

THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS tonight on CBS will be presented in a "magazine format" instead of the usual red carpet/presenter/winner format.

THE SAG AWARDS, scheduled for January 27th, signed an interim agreement with the writers' guild, so it will proceed on schedule.

The next big question -- THE OSCARS in late February.
