APPLE To Allow Third-Party Applications For IPHONE

(From Cynopsis)

APPLE became the latest to technology giant to adopt open standards, announcing it would allow third-party applications to be developed for the IPHONE.

In an open letter posted to APPLE.COM, CEO STEVE JOBS wrote that a software development kit should be ready by early next year.

The move is quite a reversal for APPLE, which has been extremely protective of its operating systems over the years, a policy that has helped protect Macs against viruses, malware and software conflicts.
