Quote Of The Week -- LOSING JOB EDITING ON AVID

Do what the early FINAL CUT PRO (FCP) users did and just put FINAL CUT PRO stickers on your AVID monitors and TELL your producer that you're cutting on FINAL CUT.

Your producers will never know the difference.

I had a person walk in to my AVID suite and say, "Oh, you have an AVID!" pointing at the monitor with the little purple AVID sticker.

"Yes, I do," I replied. "But THAT monitor is my email. These two monitors over HERE are my AVID SYMPHONY NITRIS."

Still, some producers wonder about my use of AVID in the same way.

"Why do you use THAT old thing?" they say.

Luckily, most of them don't care.

But it's certainly no longer like the days where you actually GOT jobs BECAUSE you were on an AVID. Now, you can LOSE jobs because you're cutting on an AVID.
