LAZARUS Heads To IMG

(From Sports Business Daily)

NBC SPORTS and Olympics Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing PETER LAZARUS is leaving to become IMG Senior Vice President Business Development and Sales.

Lazarus will join IMG's New York office in early October.

He will oversee ad sales across all IMG divisions and report directly to IMG President of Sports and Entertainment
GEORGE PYNE.

IMG officials would not comment on the hiring.

The hiring of Lazarus adds another key marketer under Pyne,
who joined IMG early this year. ROBERT BIRGE was hired as
CMO in August.

Lazarus gives IMG additional credibility in the sports arena at a time when the industry pioneer has been seen by some as putting less emphasis on athletes and events.

Since NBC added more top-shelf sports inventory this year with the addition of NFL rights, "the assumption here is that they (IMG) are paying him a boatload," said one network insider.

Lazarus has been with NBC Sports since 1997, with a brief stop-over at an Internet ad sales firm during the dot-com boom.

Prior to NBC, Lazarus worked at ad agencies
BACKER SPIELVOGEL BATES, LOWE AND PARTNERS and YOUNG AND RUBICAM.
