(From The Salt Lake Tribune -- By Vince Horiuchi)
In the vast scheme of things, a convenience store robbery is not the most newsworthy item of the day.
Yes, there is a jolt of adrenaline. A guy walks in, swipes a six-pack and bolts out of the store. Sometimes, he pulls a gun on the clerk. But in the list of day-to-day crimes, convenience store thefts are usually on par with street assaults, not homicides.
I've noticed an upswing in security video of convenience store robberies being shown on the local evening news -- even if it's the most mundane of thefts.
But "we're not seeing a crime wave or anything indicative of an increase in robberies," said Salt Lake City police
DETECTIVE JOE CYR.
Now, unless there's been an organized effort by
THE BEER-GUZZLING CITIZENS OF AMERICA to lift as many cases of BUDWEISER as possible, I can't imagine why so many store videos are being broadcast on the news.
Ah yes, because they supposedly make good video.
Why Is This Robby News? Because We Have Video.
