Reality Editor Pay Levels

On a network reality show, my friend was telling me offline editors get $3500 a week for a 40 hour week, plus OT and this is for a "union" show. (Pension pay, insurance, vacation pay, the works).

If you're in high enough demand, you will get what you want.

Some offline reality show editors get over 5K a week. But they are in high demand.

However, this can be somewhat misleading.

From a little searching the base pay for an on-call 5-day week editor is $2575.88/week for a motion picture editor, $1690.00/week for a dramatic video tape editor and $1524.00/week for a non dramatic video tape editor.

I'd assume the last category applies to reality editors since the shows are shot on video "tape."

My friends that have cut sitcoms started out at base pay and then made better deals over time.

Health benifits are important to everyone, but in order to qualify you have to have 600 hours in your first six month period or 600 hours over the first two six month periods.
