(From The Avid Yahoo User's Group)
The current generation of editors will by and large stay with AVID because they are older and comfortable with AVID. They came from a linear or film workflow and AVID makes sense to them.
This is not true of the next generation.
These folks have grown up with FCP and file-based workflows. The film and linear analogies upon which AVID was founded are quite foreign.
I truly see this next generation continuing to gravitate towards FCP as they get into a position of being the lead cutters.
This is why the educational market is now so critical for AVID.
