(From The Yahoo Avid User's Group -- By Kevin Oeser)
I got my hands on a MACBOOK PRO a couple weeks ago when someone from APPLE came by the office.
I can assure anyone who questions the INTEL thing that
I don't think I've ever been happier than when I held that thing in my hands.
It's more or less like other top-of-the-line laptops except:
* The power cord is magnetically connected.
Any laptop owner worth his/her salt has lost many a friend over yanking computers from a table because someone tripped on the cord.
* The battery lasts seemingly forever.
I was tooling around with this thing for four hours solid, not plugged in, and still had about 60% battery. Makes the power cord point above kinda moot.
* Restarting takes about eight seconds. Ridiculous.
These are minor compared to the various other criteria in measuring computer performance, but when it comes to laptops, I say these two factors are huge.
So my official recommendation, assuming all the other long-term features are comparable to the POWERBOOKS, is to pony up the two grand and get this one.
A keeper.
