CHUCKLES -- The Official Connecticut Groundhog

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!

Most folks know all about PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL -- the "official" U.S. groundhog from Pennsylvania. But did you know Connecticut has their own "official" groundhog?

His name is CHUCKLES.

He's perminantly deaf and partially blind after being hit by a car, so one wonders just how good ol' Chuckles saw his shadow to predict 6 more weeks of winter in Connecticut today.

Somehow I think he's wrong. We all know winter usually ends here around May 1st.

Only Connecticut would have an official groundhog who is both deaf and blind.

Don't believe me?

Check out this story and video link filed by MATT SCOTT of WTNH.

Click on the upper left hand corner on the Chuckles The Groundhog link. Another window will open. On the left hand side, use the arrows to scroll all the way to bottom. The video clip is fifth from the end and is called Connecticut Chuckles Says 6 More Weeks. It runs 1:56 and is worth the view.

Bill Smallfield, thanks for the post.
