Here's an interesting AVID vs FINAL CUT PRO (FCP) article.
I think the guy is wrong on a lot of his facts.
XSAN vs UNITY for one. MEDIA MANAGEMENT for another.
My understanding is FCP needs a ground up re-write to fix the issues with media management and APPLE has no plans to do this.
That alone makes FCP useless in any serious environment.
It still makes a great poor man's Avid, however.
Also, using FCP with third party capture boards is problematic at best. You call the company that built your card and they say it's an Apple issue. Call Apple and it's a board issue.
You're screwed.
Still, it's worth the read.
