MICROSOFT Ceases Development On New Versions Of WMP

MICROSOFT CORPORATION announced Friday it will cease development on a version of the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER (WMP) for the MAC and instead offer free technology that will allow people to play WINDOWS MEDIA FILES using APPLE SOFTWARE.

Microsoft also said it would now re-focus efforts on VISTA, which is Microsoft's newest version of Windows due out later this year.

Microsoft said it would continue to offer the current version of the media player, but no more upgrades would be added.

And as an added benefit, Microsoft has teamed up with TELESTREAM to create a plug-in that would be offered free of charge to allow WINDOWS MEDIA FILES to be heard and viewed through APPLES QUICKTIME PLAYER, according to
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.
