GARY MILLER Leaves ESPN

GARY MILLER, who over the past 15 years has been an anchor, reporter and host for ESPN, has agreed to join the sports department at KCAL-TV, Los Angeles.

Beginning Friday, January 6th, Miller will anchor SPORTS CENTRAL, Southern California's most comprehensive nightly sportscast on KCAL-9 each Friday at 10:45 pm and Saturdays at 10:30 pm.

On Sundays, Miller will join KCAL 9's ALAN MASSENGALE to
co-anchor a half-hour edition of SPORTS CENTRAL at
10:30 pm.


In addition, Miller will be actively involved in KCAL-9's
Los Angeles Dodgers pre-game show beginning in March, when the station becomes the local broadcast television home of the Dodgers.


Miller joined ESPN in 1990. In addition to being a member of the Emmy-winning SPORTSCENTER team and also anchoring BASEBALL TONIGHT, he hosted ESPN's nightly half-hour interview series UP CLOSE and worked as a play-by-play announcer and field reporter for MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL GAMES. He also did the play-by-play work for the COLLEGE WORLD SERIES on ESPN.

Prior to joining ESPN, Miller was a sports anchor and reporter for CNN from 1982-1990. In 1989, he hosted CNN's 18-hour breaking news coverage of the San Francisco Bay Area earthquake.

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Miller graduated from Southern Illinois University, then began his career in broadcasting as the sports director at WSAV-TV in Savannah, Georgia.

Miller, his wife LISA MARIE, their daughter CALLE and son RIGLEY live in Orange County.
