Has anyone else experience a problem seeing "searched" music track selections in ITUNES MUSIC STORE since APPLE released ITUNES 6 last week?
I did for a week, then the problem mysteriously went away.
Now I'm back to normal.
[Thank heavens!]
On Apple.com in the ITUNES SUPPORT DISCUSSION GROUP SECTION there are several threads filled with people encountering the same ITUNES problem.
The consenus seems to be the same.
"On ITUNES 4.7.1 I got blank pages where song titles should have been. Long story short, you'll have to upgrade to ITUNES 6 (and if you want full functionality, you'll have to have OS X 10.3.9, at least, and QUICKTIME 7.0.3). I did these three things and, so far, ITUNES 6 works fine (the search feature is something that I'll have to get used to)."
As always with anything technical or computer, if you wait a few days and they get enough complaints, they'll realize they've messed something up and fix it. Either that, or the code was F'ed up from the start.
Anyway, the complete thread quoted above can be found Here.
The official word is ITUNES 4.0 is no longer supported.
Here's another post from one of the threads.
"After calling APPLE TECHNICAL SUPPORT, I found out 4.7.1 was the problem. The tech, who had 4.8 and had no problems viewing the title of the song, told me I'd have to upgrade. I decided to do so with much trepidation. I also had to upgrade to 10.3.9 and QUICKTIME 7.0.3 to take full advantage of ITUNES 6. I also decided to upgrade my SAFARI browser. I downloaded each update separately via SOFTWARE UPDATE on my MAC. I restarted my MAC after each software download (even when I did not have to) and ran REPAIR PERMISSIONS after each restart. The good news is that ITUNES 6 seems to be fine. I have all my music and when I go to the ITUNES MUSIC STORE I can view any title I choose and listen to the preview. Although I'm not as fond of the search features in 6 (the search features on 4.7.1 were more intuitive), I'll get used to them."
This complete discussion thread can be found Here.
Either way, since I now can still search ITUNES using 4.7.1, I'm gonna stick with that until it no longer works and I have to upgrade to ITUNES 6.
Bill Smallfield, thanks for the post.
