Here are some anthropological stats to describe the YOU TUBE phenomenon, courtesy of Kansas State University professor MICHAEL WESCH, who gave a lecture on the Ethnography of the online video last month at THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS.
• 9,232 hours of video is uploaded to the site/day (the equivalent of 385 24/7 TV channels).
• 200,000 three-minute videos are uploaded on average per day (many getting 100+ views).
• 88% of the content is new and original.
