DeNIRO Film To Shoot At Cheshire Prison

(From The New Haven Register -- By Luther Turmelle)

Coming soon to a theater near you -- THE CHESHIRE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION.

Film crews will be in Cheshire Friday shooting scenes from the upcoming ROBERT DeNIRO movie, EVERYBODY'S FINE.

ANDRIUS BANEVICIUS, a state Department Of Correction spokesman, confirmed that crews would be on the grounds of the 95-year-old prison.

"They've been negotiating with the department for awhile," Banevicius said.

The department is not getting paid for the shoot, which will take place in the prison's vacant North Block, he said.

"The feeling was that we're not incurring any additional expenses in doing this," Banevicius said.

Sources tell THE NEW HAVEN REGISTER that film crews have also contacted town officials about shooting in residential neighborhoods near the prison, which is located along Route 10.
[Right down the street from me.]

JACEY TAUB, a publicist for the movie, declined to comment on whether DeNiro or any of the other stars of the movie -- whose cast includes DREW BARRYMORE and KATE BECKINSALE -- would be present for the scenes that will be shot in Cheshire.

Taub also declined to comment on how the scenes filmed at the prison might fit into the movie.

DeNiro plays a widower in the movie, a man who realizes that his deceased wife was his only connection to his children. He decides on a whim to take a road trip to reconnect with each of his grown kids, discovering that their lives are far from perfect.

DeNiro was in New Haven last month, shooting scenes for the movie with Beckinsale at UNION STATION.
