NEW YORK 1 NEWS will do something on New Year's Eve that's become a tradition at the cable news network -- it'll shut up.
But only for a little while.
The network's staffers will be silent for a half-hour starting at 11:50 pm.
That's right.
For 30 minutes, no on-air staffer will try to describe the events going on in TIMES SQUARE.
Viewers, if interested, will be treated to the sounds and sights of frivolity going on in the heart of Manhattan.
