(From Cynopsis)
1800 jobs will be cut at the BBC, along with a handful of its original series.
The company says that the jobs will be eliminated according to its DELIVERING CREATIVE FUTURES, a new six-year strategic plan to "re-prioritize resources."
About 10% of those cuts will come from the BBC KIDS side.
Following the cuts, and the investment in MY BBC NOW broadband service, BBC will BBC reorganizes its digital staff and that is expected to create approx 900 new jobs.
According to the BBC TRUST, which approved the new multi-year plan, THE DELIVERING CREATIVE FUTURES initiative is comprised of three primary concepts -- more focus on quality, a digital step change (providing content from iPlayer to My BBC Radio), and a smaller BBC.
