MATTEL reports that BarbieGirls.com, its new social networking and virtual world website, has exceeded 4 million registered users, with an average of 45,000 new users signing up each day.
Targeted specifically to girls, the site launched in April 2007.
The news comes as Mattel releases THE BARBIE GIRLS MP3 PLAYER (512 MB, with space for a 2 GB memory card), which is shaped like a fashion doll (with snap-on fashions and accessories) and acts also as a USB key that when connected to computer will unlock additional exclusive content on BarbieGirls.com.
On August 13th, Mattel launched the Barbie Girls website in five more languages, including French, Spanish, Italian, German as well as Portuguese.
