This is my DS. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My DS is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My DS without me is useless. Without my DS I am useless.
I must make perfectly paced cuts on the beat or on the down beat which ever makes the piece better.
I will only straight line cut when absolutely necessary.
My DS and myself know that what counts in editing is not the mouse clicks, the bursts of our keyboard clacking, nor the renders we make.
We know it is the stories we tell that count. We will tell...
My DS is human, even as I, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother.
I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its operating system and its pen and tablet.
I will ever guard it against the ravages or spilled liquids from open containers. Dusty conditions when editing on remote. I will keep it cool so as to not overheat and suffer thermal lockup.
I will keep my DS clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.
We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God I swear this creed.
My DS and myself are the defenders of untold stories everywhere.
We are the masters of my enemy.
We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace and quiet.
Erik Paulsen, thanks for the post.
