THE WEATHER CHANNEL Moves To HD

(From Cynopsis)

THE WEATHER CHANNEL (TWC) is planning to spend more than $50 million on the launch of its HD channel, which so far has secured carriage on DIRECTTV beginning September 2007.

A new state-of-the-art studio, digital editing software, graphics equipment and digital storage facilities are all on the shopping list.

When the studio is up and running, the network will begin to transition to producing all its programming in HD.

TWC plans to break ground on the facility May 2nd, which marks its 25th anniversary.
