Quote Of The Week -- PLUG-INS

Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day.
Teach a person to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.

Some plug-ins are very useful and save many hours of work, but most plug-ins are just fancy effects.

Plug-ins have always been the fish. If you teach editors a "trick" then they will not gain the tools/knowledge to think creativity and create their own "tricks" later.

Editors trying to learn should build a strong foundation and understanding of the software and craft before relying on fancy effects to save them. If and when the "tricks" fail all you're left with is the underlying software.

When the basics have been mastered, learning plug-ins will be a snap.

If an artist is really good at what they do creating effects only provides more flexibility, control and originality.
