The rich get richer.
GOOGLE announced first-quarter profits surged 69% on
the strength of its core web-search ad business.
The company posted net income of $1 billion (the exact amount VIACOM is seeking in its lawsuit against YOUTUBE),
up from $592 million a year earlier.
Revenue rose to $3.66 billion, up 63% from first quarter
last year.
GOOGLE delivered 225.9 billion ad links during the quarter, according to NIELSEN/NET RATINGS, and finished with a war chest of $11.9 billion in cash.
