MSNBC Host Drops F-Bomb On The I-Man

(From The New York Daily News -- By David Hinckley)

WFAN (660 AM) and MSNBC dodged an F-bullet yesterday when HARDBALL host CHRIS MATTHEWS blurted out the word while talking to DON IMUS during a simulcast.

WFAN's delay system enabled Imus' radio engineers to bleep it out, said WFAN program Director MARK CHERNOFF.

It was, however, heard on MSNBC, which does not use a delay but as a cable network also does not have the content guidelines of radio.

Matthews had been praising former MAYOR RUDY GIULIANI's presidential qualifications and said, "I'm so sick of Southern guys with ranches running this country. I want a guy to run for President who doesn't have a f-ranch."

He immediately apologized, but drew a sharp rebuke from Imus, who said, "I actually have several million people that advertise that I can lose as a result."

Imus probably meant he has several million listeners, not advertisers.

MSNBC said it had received no complaints.
