CARTOON NETWORK Stir In Boston

(From Cynopsis)

TURNER BROADCASTING and its division CARTOON NETWORK caused a lot of commotion in Boston yesterday when a series of lit up electronic devices were discovered on buildings, bus stations and other public places.

Police and bomb squads were called in, bringing traffic and business to a halt in parts of the city.

The devices were not bombs, but part of a gorilla marketing campaign for the animated series AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE, which is part of Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM programming block.

INTERFERENCE INC., the marketing company that deployed folks to put the devices up, has been ordered to remove them.

Turner Broadcasting has apologized to the City of Boston.

City and federal officials are following up on the investigation, with Boston's MAYOR THOMAS MENINO saying he will take "any and all action" against Turner to recover the costs incurred in shutting down parts of the city.
