JON STEWART -- A DAILY Dose Of Substance

(From The Sacramento Bee -- By Rick Kushman)

This should come as no real surprise, but a recent study from an Indiana University professor found that COMEDY CENTRAL'S
THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART is as substantive as network news shows.

Like I said, no surprise.

On the other hand, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Probably both.

The study, conducted by assistant communications professor JULIA R. FOX, analyzed 2004 convention coverage and weeks of shows from the nets and THE DAILY SHOW.

"The average amounts of video and audio substance in the broadcast news stories were not significantly different than the average amounts of visual and audio substance in
THE DAILY SHOW,"
Fox says in an Indiana University news release.

Jon Stewart -- A Daily Dose Of Substance

[When our comedy has more substance than our news,
why would that worry anyone?]
