A WCBS Re-Creation

(From The New York Daily News -- By Richard Huff)

WCBS-Ch. 2's investigative reporter SCOTT WEINBERGER had a story about people having sex in health clubs that was so steamy that anchor DANA TYLER had to warn viewers it was for "mature audiences" only.

It centered on two workers at the EQUINOX health club who said they frequently saw people having sex in the sauna.

Okay, fine so far.

One of the men described what he saw, involving two men and a towel.

Still okay.

Then, as Weinberger detailed the allegations, producers at Ch. 2 amped up the cringe-worthy nature of the piece with a recreation.

"Workers also had to clean up the mess left behind," Weinberger intoned, while a completely unnecessary re-creation showed someone reaching down on a floor to pick up towels.

Yuck.

Was the re-creation really needed?

No. It weakened what was already a bad piece.
