Everything I Needed To Know I Learned From My TV

(From DenverPost.com -- By Michael Booth)

Television is a real educator when it comes to learning the names of THREE STOOGES, so why can't it teach us something about current events?

We're bad at civics, but really, really good at TV trivia.

And that raises a question.

Why not find more ways to impart the important stuff -- democracy, science, politics, history -- using the methods so successfully employed by popular culture?

"I don't think it's saying we're a nation of idiots.
It's saying we're a nation of pop-culture geniuses,"
says
ROBERT THOMPSON, Director of The Center For Television And Popular Culture at Syracuse University.
