(From Sports Business Daily)
ESPN has pulled THE WORLD SERIES OF DARTS from its
7 pm ET Tuesday time slot just three episodes into its eight-episode arc because the show's 0.4/ (334,900 HHs) cable NIELSEN RATING "didn't justify having it as a lead-in to the hugely popular WOLRD SERIES OF POKER" which averages a 1.0 rating, according to JEFF McLANE of
THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER.
ESPN will fill the time slot with an extra half hour of SPORTSCENTER and a repeat of NFL LIVE at 7:30 pm.
EOE Executive Producer JOAN LYNCH said, "We're committed to airing the rest of the series. We have flexibility, we just need to find the audience."
But McLane writes competitor BILL DAVIS and others
"question ESPN's presentation of the game."
Davis -- "I don't think they really thought about what they were doing. I know that sounds mean -- and I'm grateful -- but I think they could have done a much better job."
