(From Reuters/The Hollywood Reporter -- By Paul J. Gough)

Oscar-winning TITANIC composer JAMES HORNER has created a new theme for THE CBS EVENING NEWS
WITH KATIE COURIC, which will debut September 5th.

The network declined to release a snippet of the music Wednesday.

"It's memorable when you hear it, and it feels like it fits us," said ROME HARTMAN, Executive Producer of CBS EVENING NEWS.

Horner won OSCARS for best original score for TITANIC and best song for MY HEART WILL GO ON from TITANIC. He also has received nominations for his work in BRAVEHEART,
APOLLO 13
and AN AMERICAN TAIL.

The existing theme has been in place since 1991.

CBS NEWS said there have been only four themes used in the history of the show, which started using music in 1962 when WALTER CRONKITE took the anchor chair.
