(From MacWorld.com -- By Peter Cohen)
APPLE's introduction last week of the MAC PRO has spurred digital video and audio maven AVID TECHNOLOGY into action.
The company has announced plans to support INTEL-BASED MACS with compatible versions of its software and hardware products through the end of the year.
AVID's roadmap shows the company offering INTEL-ready versions of its XPRESS PRO and MEDIA COMPOSER digital video editing systems by December.
What's more, AVID's DIGIDESIGN business unit will release PRO TOOLS|HD 7.2 for Mac Intel systems next month.
AVID also reports that "full qualification" for PRO TOOLS LE and PRO TOOLS M-POWERED on the new MAC PRO will be done by December, though the company said that preliminary testing indicates that both apps will run without problems.
M-AUDIO, another Avid subsidiary that operates as part of Digidesign, will qualify various hardware interfaces it makes for musicians for the Mac Pro by December as well.
