(From Sports Business Daily)
HAROLD REYNOLDS said that ESPN/ABC SPORTS President GEORGE BODENHEIMER told him yesterday that ESPN
"will not reconsider its decision earlier this week to fire him," according to BOB NIGHTENGALE of THE USA TODAY.
Three sources said that Reynolds was informed Monday that he was being fired for sexual harassment.
Reynolds said that he has "received several other broadcasting offers and strong interest from other entities."
Reynolds said, "The phone started ringing as soon as the news hit."
ESPN continues to offer no public statement about why Reynolds was fired.
In New York, BOB RAISSMAN writes, "By offering no reason for firing Reynolds, ESPN suits released a torrent of rumors. When someone is suddenly fired, those who watch the network want to know why."
Raissman adds, "There is some irony -- and duplicity -- in this whole Reynolds situation. There has been no shortage of ESPN broadcasters who, at times, have called on owners, league commissioners or players to engage in full disclosure."
