NIX Heading To ESPN

WHDH-Channel 7's weekend sports anchor WENDI NIX is leaving the station for the big leagues.

NIX, 31, is taking a job as a reporter with national sports television network ESPN, she said yesterday.

"I will be reporting for a myriad of shows, where they need me," Nix said. Those will likely include ESPN's marquee SPORTSCENTER.

Nix, a South Carolina native who joined WHDH over three years ago, said reporting on the Boston sports scene was a good lead into the national spotlight.

"Working in the Boston market there's so many national stories," she said. "There's a part of me that's nervous about it but I also feel prepared."

Nix will likely depart Channel 7 at the end of July and start at ESPN sometime in August.
