(From The Hartford Courant -- By Daniela Altimari)
WEST HARTFORD, the town of carefully trimmed lawns, detached garages and single-family homes is experiencing A CONDO BOOM.
More than 400 CONDOMINIUM UNITS now in various stages of planning or construction are expected to come on the market in THE NEXT TWO YEARS.
Condos are hot properties nationwide, with cities from MINNEAPOLIS to HARTFORD seeing strong demand and rising prices. Now developers are turning to WEST HARTFORD and OTHER SUBURBS.
The trend is largely fueled by DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES, LOW INTEREST RATES and A HOT HOUSING MARKET. Condo developers are courting AGING BABY BOOMERS whose children have grown and whose houses have APPRECIATED dramatically in recent years.
