FOUR DEGREES Of Separation From KEVIN BACON

As my buddy CARL WISER pointed out to me today, he and I now have the distinction of being FOUR DEGREES OF SEPARATION away from KEVIN BACON. This beats the normal game people play -- to connect actors or individuals in SIX STEPS to film actor KEVIN BACON.

Quite a feat.
Quite an exclusive club indeed.

Our old ESPN buddy JOHN LEARING (who now works for PGA TOUR PRODUCTIONS) has a good friend, KIRK TRUTNER. Carl and I met Kirk a few years back at John's wedding to LEIGH McKEE. Up until now, Kirk's biggest film bragging right was DANTE's PEAK (1997). He played TERRY on THE USGS CREW. [See what I mean.]

Well that was then.

Kirk now can be seen in the romantic comedy MUST LOVE DOGS
(DIANE LANE, JOHN CUSACK) currently in theaters. Kirk is THE DELI GUY.

So here it is -- OUR FOUR DEGREES OF SEPARATION FROM KEVIN BACON:
1. Carl and I know/worked with John Learing.
2. John Learing knows/is good friends with Kirk Trutner.
3. Kirk Trutner is in MUST LOVE DOGS (as The Deli Guy) with Diane Lane.
4. Diane Lane was in MY DOG SKIP with Kevin Bacon.

It's that simple.

If you haven't seen MUST LOVE DOGS, make a trip to cool off from the summer heat at your local cineplex. It's a cute romantic comedy.

As for the SIX DEGREES OF KEVIN BACON GAME, try your hand playing this internet parlor game about the career of actor KEVIN BACON yourselves. Remember, he's never been nominated for AN OSCAR, but Bacon has achieved a kind of immortality -- based on the premise that he is the hub of the entertainment universe.

The odd theory was developed by MIKE GINELLI, CRAIG FASS, and BRIAN TURTLE who invented a game that swept through college campuses and the internet before becoming a board game and a book called SIX DEGREES OF KEVIN BACON. The idea is to connect Bacon and any other actor through the films or television shows the two have worked on in no more than six steps.

When you think about Hollywood heavyweights, you don't immediately think of KEVIN BACON. But his career spans almost 20 years through films such as FLATLINERS, THE AIR UP THERE, FOOTLOOSE, THE RIVER WILD, JFK, and ANIMAL HOUSE.

So brush up on your BACON LORE.
