Cup TV

(From The USA Today -- By Michael Hiestand(

THE U.S. MEN'S SOCCER TEAM could clinch A WORLD CUP BERTH by beating MEXICO in COLUMBUS, OHIO, in a September 3rd game starting at 7:30 pm ET. But with COLLEGE FOOTBALL on ESPN/ESPN2 that night, the game isn't slated to air until 2:30 am ET September 4th.

You'd think ESPN CLASSIC would step up since what's scheduled now -- THE 1941 JOE LOUIS/BILLY CONN FIGHT -- could keep.

Says ESPN's MIKE SOLTYS -- "We're working on televising the game live."
