Send WABC Your Images

(From The New York Daily News -- By Richard Huff)

Less than a week after CAMERA PHONE IMAGES of THE LONDON SUBWAY BOMBINGS played worldwide, WABC's news is asking viewers for their footage of news events.

"The video taken from cell-phone cameras right after the London train bombings last week, you'll recall, was the most compelling images of the tragedy -- they helped investigators, in fact," anchor BILL RITTER said on-air Wednesday. "Now we are asking you, if you're a witness or part of a news event, to send us your images."

The concept had been kicking around for a while -- viewers already offer footage from video cameras -- but it picked up steam after the London tragedy.

"It makes our viewers the eyewitnesses in EYEWITNESS NEWS," WABC Senior Vice President and News Director KENNY PLOTNIK said.

Viewers with footage should check www.7online.com for details. Clips are coming in already, said a spokeswoman.

No word whether PARIS HILTON has offered any of her, um, EYEWITNESS cell-phone footage.
