(From The USA Today -- By Donna Leinwand)
POT SUCKERS, one of several marijuana-flavored candies criticized by some politicians and anti-drug groups, has been taken off the market.
ICUP INC. of TRENTON, NEW JERSEY, posted a notice on it's website saying that "due to the controversial nature of the item" the company has voluntarily suspended distribution of the lollipops.
CHICAGO and SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK, passed ordinances recently barring the sale of pot-flavored products. The MICHIGAN LEGISLATURE is considering a ban.
ICUP President STEVEN TRACHTENBERG said none of the politicians or others who complained in public talked to him. The company, Trachtenberg said, will continue selling novelty items, including those with marijuana themes.
"Our sole survival is not linked to a lollipop," Trachtenberg said.
