Veteran Newsman Joins WNYW News On Tuesday, July 5th

The long-awaited arrival of seasoned anchor ERNIE ANASTOS is finally here!

Anastos, who recently celebrated his 25th anniversary on New York television, will join anchor ROSANNA SCOTTO on New York's number one 10 pm newscast on WNYW-FOX 5 on Tuesday, July 5th. Anastos will also co-anchor WNYW's 5 pm newscast with Scotto, and spend each weeknight with anchor LYN BROWN at 6 pm.

Anastos is an EMMY AWARD WINNING television news legend, and is also the first to achieve the distinction as a broadcast pioneer as America's first TV anchor of GREEK HERITAGE. Throughout his stellar career, he has received 28 EMMY AWARDS and nominations, including the prestigious EDWARD R. MURROW AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE. He has covered major stories in the tri-state area, including live coverage of breaking news, political conventions and special events for WABC-TV EYEWITNESS NEWS, WCBS-TV NEWS, and WWOR-TV. In addition, he has national news experience as an anchor and reporter for CBS THIS MORNING and CBS LATE NEWS, as well as a substitute host for ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA.

He is also a notable author of a series of books for children, and author of TWIXT: TEENS YESTERDAY AND TODAY, a book on the history of teenagers that was chosen for special spotlight by THE MUSEUM OF AMERICAN HISTORY AT THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE in Washington, D.C. Anastos is a feature writer on social issues, and has been a regular columnist for FAMILY CIRCLE and written on the subject of broadcasting for BUSINESS WEEK MAGAZINE.
