The Look Of Champions -- RED SOX's MILLAR, DAMON Freshen Up On QUEER EYE

(From The Hartford Courant -- By Roger Catlin)

The curse of the BAMBINO may have been banished with the RED SOX' 2004 WORLD SERIES victory. But the curse of CARSON may just be starting.

The primping and plucking of a handful of BOSTON RED SOX by CARSON KRESSLEY and the rest of the FAB FIVE from TV's QUEER EYE, filmed during spring training in Florida, is unveiled tonight on the show's season premiere.

And the sight of KEVIN MILLAR in a red bonnet getting a treatment, JASON VARITEK getting his back hair waxed, and JOHNNY DAMON getting further dandified has been raising the neo-homophobic ire of sports radio and TV broadcasters provided early clips.

One key clip has Millar soaking in a rose bath in a terrycloth robe before his microderm abrasion treatment and pumpkin facial.

"Who said gay was bad?" Millar declares. "I am now gay!"

THE FAB FIVE showed up at FENWAY Sunday to throw out the first ball and sing the national anthem. Damon defended his involvement to reporters.

It's all part of the promotional synchronicity, tying the SOX to the popular BRAVO show just as the series shortened its name from QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY -- "a nod to the show's status in the world of pop culture," said BRAVO president LAUREN ZALAZNICK.

You can catch the RED SOX episode of QUEER EYE tonight at 10 pm ET on BRAVO. If you miss it, I'm sure it will repeat many more times this summer.
