LIVE 8 Lures PINK 4

(From The USA Today -- By Jim Cheng)

PINK FLOYD will put aside decades of bad blood and reunite for the LIVE 8 benefit concert in London.

Guitarist DAVID GILMOUR, drummer NICK MASON, bassist ROGER WATERS and keyboardist RICHARD WRIGHT have not performed together on stage since 1981.

"Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if re-forming for this concert will help focus attention, then it's going to be worthwhile," Gilmour said. Waters, the group's primary creative force in the '70s, split with the band after 1983's THE FINAL CUT.

The group will join acts including ELTON JOHN, MADONNA, PAUL McCARTNEY and COLDPLAY at the concert in HYDE PARK on July 2nd, the same day that concerts are planned for Paris, Rome, Berlin and Philadelphia.

"Like most people, I want to do everything I can to persuade the G8 leaders to make huge commitments to the relief of poverty and increased aid to the Third World," Gilmour said.
