(From The New York Post)
CNN's street-level studio on SIXTH AVENUE appears to be headed for other uses.
The last show being produced out of the studio at the corner of 51st Street across from RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL -- CNN's AMERICAN MORNING -- is reportedly moving to the TIME WARNER CENTER on COLUMBUS CIRCLE in August.
Staffers were told that the last show at the Sixth Avenue studio will be August 19th.
The 5,000-square-foot studio at the bottom of the TIME AND LIFE BUILDING opened in late 2002, where it was meant to provide a TODAY SHOW-like backdrop for PAULA ZAHN's new morning show on CNN.
Zahn has since moved on to the evenings -- and a studio in the COLUMBUS CIRCLE building.
AMERICAN MORNING -- hosted by SOLEDAD O'BRIEN and BILL HEMMER -- too seems to be going through its own problems.
Hemmer is said to be looking for a new job elsewhere, and the show continues to trail its counterpart on FOX NEWS CHANNEL, FOX AND FRIENDS.
The studio was never popular with staffers because it was blocks from the control room and producers who put the show together, first from PENN PLAZA on 34th Street and later COLUMBUS CIRCLE.
A CNN spokeswoman said "no decision" had been made yet. No word on what may happen to the studios.
