I'm at work editing when I hear a familiar voice out of the corner of my ear. I continue working, until I realize I KNOW that voice. When I look over, I find the producer turned up the volume on the TV where ABC's WORLD NEWS TONIGHT was on.
I hear (and see) DAVID MUIR (Ithaca College Alumni, 1995) reporting on the story of Donald Herbert, the New York Firefighter who after being brain-damaged and mostly mute from an injury 9 1/2 years just snapped out it.
Just like that, it seemed like David's voice was in my headset again while I was working -- like old times! After 12 years, his voice was still noticeable in my mind! I guess I still have a good memory. Either that, or I just snapped back to a happier time in my life.
I'm glad to see David is no longer anchoring the overnight duties on ABC's WORLD NEWS NOW and WORLD NEWS THIS MORNING. He's now a correspondent and anchor for ABC NEWS. Based in New York, Muir contributes reports to WORLD NEWS TONIGHT, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, and NIGHTLINE as well as other ABC News broadcasts.
Be sure to catch some of his reports in the future for ABC NEWS.
