TV Disasters

Few things are as serious as a TV reporter on the job -- the perfect posture, the precise grooming, the MURROWESQUE composure.

So we went on a search for the best clips of newscaster's who are forced into siutations that muss up their metaphorical hair and makeup.

There are scads of these videos on the Internet, but here we submit our top three.

WHAT'S THE BUZZ
Worst celebrity puff piece ever. Inexperienced ABC host MERRY MILLER conducts a Hindenburg of an interview with HOLLY HUNTER. ABC blamed the excruciating awkwardness on an audio glitch, but that doesn't excuse Miller's misidentification of the very network she's appearing on (listen during the final seconds for an off-camera staffer's yelp of disbelief as Miller directs viewers to NBC News.com).

THE BLIND MAN IS GAY
It's tough to guess what was going on in CYNTHIA IZAGUIRRE's head last year as she Mad Libbed an introduction to a story about a blind mountain climber. In fact, it's such an improbable word mix-up that some smart aleck at Albuquerque's ABC affiliate must've tinkered with the TelePromTer. Her co-anchor's contained reaction is priceless.

LIZARD DROPS ANCHOR
The 2002 clip starts as one of those JACK HANNA segments. In this case, a reptile handler plays show-and-tell with anchor MICHAEL SCOTT, then of NBC5 in Dallas/Forth Worth. As both men are distracted by a Texas rat snake, a lizard on the table plots an attack. It pounces on Scott, whose reaction is a stunning example of both mania (he flails and sputters like a taser victim) and restraint (he obviously wants to curse but censors himself.
