Against all odds, rocker PHIL COLLINS has fallen in love with WCBS-2 anchorwoman DANA TYLER just weeks after splitting from his third wife, ORIANNE.
Tyler brought the former GENESIS drummer and lead vocalist to the WCBS-TV studios on Tuesday night between the 6 pm and 11 pm newscasts and introduced him to her co-workers.
"She's beaming," one colleague told PAGE SIX. "This is the happiest I've seen her."
The two met when Tyler interviewed Collins before the May 10th Broadway opening of TARZAN, which featured several of Collins' songs, including the hit, YOU'LL BE IN MY HEART from the 1999 DISNEY movie.
"They've been keeping it quiet for several weeks, but it's out now that she's shown him around the studio," said our source.
Tyler, who won a NEW YORK ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS AWARD for her reporting on the Broadway staging of THE COLOR PURPLE, has been with the station for more than 15 years. She was previously married.
She and Collins have been spotted recently playing golf near her home in Connecticut. But she might be spending time soon on Central Park West, where Collins is buying an apartment at the building known as the Landmark at 106th Street.
The 2,876-square-foot love nest -- with three bedrooms, four baths, a dining room and a library -- was listed for $3.85 million, according to THE NEW YORK OBSERVER. The castle-like building, complete with turrets, was formerly a cancer hospital.
Collins, 55, had been living on Lake Geneva in Switzerland with Orianne, who married him in 1999, and their two children. When he announced their separation on March 16th, he said he planned to continue living in Switzerland -- which seems a lot less likely now.
The London-born musician has two children from his first marriage, to Canadian actress ANDREA BERTORELLI, who met him in acting class in 1964. The acrimony of their split inspired his hit, IN THE AIR TONIGHT.
Collins also has a daughter from his second wife, JILL TAVERMAN, who once leaked a fax he'd sent her during their divorce that ended up being published in THE LONDON SUN.
But the experience obviously didn't sour him on members of the media.
