ROOM TONE is an editor's best friend for pacing.
30" of ambient sound from each and every location should ALWAYS be shot.
In our plant one man bands shoot their feet and EFP crews shoot the audio guy or the boom mic so those of us who are visually driven can easily find room tone at high speed scanning.
One cameraman I ran across used to put it on with tail bars.
